1. Badrinath Temple

Among the 108 Divya desams incarnation in Lord Vishnu, Badrinath is one of Vaishnavites’ holy shrines. The city of Badrinath is also a part of Panch Badri, the temples of Yog Dhyan Badri, the temples of Bhavishya Badri and the temples of Badrinath. The main entrance of the temple of Badrinath is colourful and impressive. A small cupola on the top, covered with a gold-domed roof, is approximately 50 ft high. The garbhagriha Temple or sanctum sanctorum is divided into three parts, the Darshan Mandap with rituals, and the Sabha Mandap with the assembly of pilgrims.

Indiana’s leading ski destination is the small yet picture-perfect town of Auli. Auli skiing slopes are popular among both tourists and businessmen, originally designed as a paramilitary base. Auli hosts a number of snow adventure events in the winter. Skiing lessons can also be taken here. Standing at 2.800 m, Auli offers panoramic views of some of the highest peaks of India, including the second-highest peak in the country, the Nanda Devi region.

It is also the gateway to Nanda Devi and the Valley of Flowers National Park, including Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara, and is also accessible via Aul to popular tourist destinations like Gorson Bugyal, Pangarchulla Summit and Tapovan. Other skiing destinations, including Dayara Bugyal, Munsiyari and Mundali, are also available in Uttarakhand, in addition to Auli.

The Valley of Flowers National Park, located within an area of 87 sqkm in Chamoli district, constitutes one of the two core parks in the Nanda Devi Reserve and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

5. Mana Village

The village of Mana is located on the shores of the River Saraswati in Chamoli district, 3200 m above sea level, in Uttarakhand. It is 5 km from Badrinath’s famous pilgrimage centre of Hindu history. This lovely hamlet, which is 24 km from the border with Indo-China, is India’s last village. If you visit the site, the shopkeeper in the area will notice their product being sold using the heading ‘last village.’ This is quite interesting and fun, like the ‘India last tea and coffee corner.’

6. Gopinath Temple

The Temple of Gopinath is a renowned shrine in Gopeshwar, Uttarakhand District of Chamoli. Lord Shiva is dedicated to the temple and many pilgrims visit it. The temple was constructed in the 12th century AD and is known as the temple of Gopinath. Legend says that Lord Siva has done much meditation there to wake him up to aid the Devtas.

The legend says that he was disturbed by Kam Deva. Siva was furious and disappeared. The architecture is typical of temples of Uttarakhand, with a big structure like a dome, and a garbhagriha below. Maybe the size and shape of the architecture contributed to the temples’ resistance to natural disasters like mountain ranges.

7. Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib

Hemkund Sahib is a world-renowned Sikh venerable shrine. It is located at a dizzying height of 4636 m which makes it even more popular. Nestled on the Garhwal Himalayas lap, a vast number of devotees visit this holy Sikh pilgrimage destination each year before it closes between October and April during the winter season.

Starting in the month of May, Sikh pilgrims arrive at Hemkund Sahib for the first time and then for the pilgrimages in winter to repair the damaged trail. This tradition is called Kar Seva, which in the Sikh faith forms an important concept.

8. Rudranath Temple

In the heart of Lord Shiva’s devotees, Rudranath attaches particular importance. Rudranath is a vast temple in the Garhwal region, in the Uttarakhand district of Chamoli, including the “Panch Kedar” (Rudranath, Kedarnath, Tungnath, Madhyamaheshwar and Kalpeshwar). The site is located at an altitude of 3600 m, surrounded by the high Garhwal Himalayan mountain range.

This important Hindu shrine is said to have been constructed in the 8th century AD to hide the face of Lord Shiva. Whereas in Kedarnath are other areas of his bull, such as his bum, in the Tungnath; in Madhyamaheshwar are his arms, his navel and his stomach; and in Kalpeshwar, he is his hair and his head. 

9. Vasudhara Fall

The sweet nectar, Vasudhara Falls is one of the most enchanting places in Uttarakhand near the holy town of Badrinath. This spectacular waterfall drops about 122 metres above sea level from a height of 400 metres. It is believed that only clean, purified and untouched people can taste the heavenly beauty of Vasudhara’s fall. Although it is a faraway destination, its untouched beauty and cool atmosphere make nature lovers visit.

10. Nandaprayag

Nandaprayag is a town in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and the Nagar Panchayat district of Chamoli. Nandaprayag is one of the Alaknanda River Panch Prayags at the intersection of River Alaknanda and River Mandakini. Nandaprayag is one of the Panch Prayag on the Alaknanda River, about 11km south of Chamoli in Uttarakhand. Nandaprayag lies on the confluence of the River Alaknanda and Mandakini at a height of approximately 2500 ft. Nandprayag is the gateway to the famous pilgrimage sites of Badrinath and Kedarnath.
