The capital of Uttarakhand is Dehradun, near the foothills of the Himalayas. The Ghanta Ghar 6-sided clock tower is the center of the city of Dehradun. In the southwest is the busy shopping place Paltan Bazaar.

To the east is the Gurdwara Nanaksar Sikh temple, surrounded by a decorated white and golden dome. Mindrolling Monastery is the Tibetan Buddhist center in Clement Town, southwest of the city, with sanctuaries in its Great Stupa.

Jhanda Fair

In commemoration of this festival are Guru Ram Rai, religious figure, and Guru Nanak Dev disciple. It’s celebrated at Guru Ram Rai Darbar following five days of the Holi festival. The event draws many of Dehradun ‘s supporters from the neighboring countries.

Tapkeshwar Mela

The Tapkeshwar Temple of Dehradun is celebrated on the eve of Mahashivratri. Each year in February, this festival and fair are held. A huge gathering of the devotees is seen in the temple.

Bissu Mela

Bissu Mela is a tribal exhibit designed to exhibit the Himalayan tribal culture and to encourage rural trade and industry.

Lakhawar Fair

This showcases the culture of Garhwal and is a significant celebration among the tribes of Garhwal. The fair takes place in the village of Lakhwar near Dehradun between September and October. The Fair is full of laughter, joy, folk music, dance, etc.
