Shyamla Tal, located at an elevation of 1500 meters in the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas, is a lovely lake town with plenty of greenery and freshness. One of the highlights of the area is the Swami Vivekanand Ashram, which is located alongside the lake and is ideal for meditation and self-exploration.

Shyamla Tal, also known as Shyamla Lake, is so named because it resembles a mirror to the sky, reflecting its blue tint all over itself. Aside from the lake, the Ramakrishna Mission manages an old ashram dedicated to Sri Vivekanand. Sitting by the lake and gazing out at the vast greenery and Himalayan peaks, one cannot help but be impressed by the natural beauty of the area.

Shyamla Tal can be visited throughout the year. The lovely lake town is pleasant and cool in both the summer and winter. Summers are pleasant and easy, while winters are cool but enjoyable. The region can be explored on foot. Champawat should be your preferred lodging destination. It has excellent options for all budgets. Aside from the lake, Swami Vivekanand Ashram is a popular tourist destination in this area.

At the lake, one can go boating. Shyamla Tal is a lake town that also houses a Ramakrishna Mission, giving the area a sense of calm and spirituality. Try some delicious Garhwali and Kumauni dishes like aloo ke gutka, gahat, chainsoo, and kappa. On your way to Champawat, take a day trip to Shyamla Tal. Visit the lake and then the nearby ashram in the late afternoon.

To visit Shyamla Tal, avoid the monsoon season. Pant Nagar Airport, located 128 kilometers from Shyama La Tal, is the nearest airport. From the airport, one can easily take a taxi or a bus to Shyama La Tal. Tanakpur, the nearest railhead, is 30 kilometers from Shyama La Tal. From the railway station, one can easily take a cab or a bus to Shyama La Tal. Shyama La Tal is easily accessible by car from anywhere in the state. Public buses run frequently between the location and the surrounding areas.
