Mindrolling Monastery, one of the six monasteries of the Nyingma school of Buddhism, was founded in 1965 by Khochhen Rinpoche. Mindrolling Monastery, located 10 kilometers from Clement Town, provides an incredible view of the neighboring town. The monastery was built to revitalize India’s Mindrolling Monastery.

The monastery’s Great Stupa is over 60m tall, making it one of the world’s tallest stupas, and it houses a series of shrine rooms displaying relics, murals, and Tibetan art. The monastery is presiding over a 35-meter-high gold Sakyamuni Buddha Statue dedicated to the Dalai Lama.

The Mindrolling monastery includes Nagyur Nyingma College, one of the largest Buddhist Institutes. This cutting-edge institute prepares monks to carry on the unbroken lineage of teachings to the next generation of practitioners.

Currently, the Mindrolling organization educates over 300 monks, from primary to secondary school and on to research. Mindrolling has a well-stocked library and retreat center, as well as a branch for nuns and western retreatants who are in charge of preserving the Jetsunma line.
