Laxman Sidh Temple in Dehradun

The Laxman Siddh Temple is a popular Hindu pilgrimage site. It is nestled in the lovely vistas of Dehradun, far from the bustle of Doon. This small temple is thought to be the final resting place of Saint Swami Laxman Siddh. Over here, he practised austerity.

The temple is a haven for nature lovers and bird watchers because it is nestled among the dense woods of Lachhiwala. Furthermore, the vegetation consists of Sal Trees that are scattered throughout the area. A wide variety of birds can also be seen. They congregate along the Song River’s marshes and grassland.

According to local legend, the Laxman Siddh Temple is built on the same site where Laxman, Lord Rama’s younger brother, engaged in a long penance. He came here to seek forgiveness for killing Ravana, the demon king. Furthermore, the temple receives a large number of visitors on Sundays. According to another legend, the temple was built in memory of Saint Laxman Siddh, who received Siddhi here.

The temple hosts a grand Laxman Siddh Fair, which is well-attended by the locals. It is organised by the locals on the last Sunday of April at the Temple. Every year, thousands of devotees flock to this temple to enjoy the fair and festivities. In fact, people enthusiastically celebrate this fair.

The holy Laxman Siddh Temple is only 1.5 kilometres from the highway. As soon as you enter the Sal forest, take the first right turn; there is a small bridge after Harrawala. A path through the forest that crosses the temple ascends to the west. It then flows into the Suswa River near Mathurwala Swamp. You can easily get here after crossing a 4 km stretch through one of the valley’s verdant Sal patches.

You can return to Dehradun via Clement Town and visit the Buddha Temple. If you want to go on a picnic from the temple, take the highway until you reach an overhead railway crossing. After 3 kilometres, take the first left onto a forest path that leads to the picnic spot (River Song). You can picnic here and swim in the Song River. Guchhupani and Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple are two nearby places to visit from Laxman Temple.

The Laxman Siddh Temple on Doiwala Road is approximately 10 kilometres from the Dehradun Clock Tower. It is located between Haridwar and Rishikesh. The temple is located in Dehradun’s Lachhiwala forest. It is simple to get here by bus or taxi until Harrawala. Then it’s a 1 km walk to the temple. The nearest railhead is Dehradun Railway Station, which is 9.5 kilometres away. The nearest airport to the temple is Jolly Grant Airport, which is 20 kilometres away.
