The Vishnu Temple was built around 500 CE in Deogarh, Uttar Pradesh, Central India. The temple is one of the oldest Hindu stone temples that still stand today. Vishnu Temple, built in the late Gupta period, exemplifies the ornate and beautiful Gupta-style architecture.

This temple is also a good place to look at Gupta-style sculptures and art. Many of the earliest Hindu stone temples were dedicated to a single Hindu god. Deogarh’s temple is dedicated to Vishnu.

These temples built in the latter part of the Gupta Period housed images and symbols of Hindu gods, allowing people to communicate with the gods they worshiped. The Gupta Empire built the Dashavatar Temple, an ancient shrine.
