Nature and Wildlife in Uttarakhand

The state of Uttarakhand is Floral home to nearly 4048 species of Angiosperms and Gymnosperms belonging to 1198 genera. Uttarakhand also includes Faunal beauty of about 19 species of amphibians, 124 species of fish, 69 species of reptiles,623 species of birds, and 102 species of mammals.

Uttarakhand abundant Flora contains preserved areas like Valley of flowers, Corbett National Park, Nanda Devi Biosphere, Govind Pashu Vihar, Rajaji National Park, which are very popular spots of the state, while some of the lesser-Known areas include Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary and Askot Musk Deer Sanctuary, which are not commercialized by Govt.

The Uttarakhand State has 12 Wildlife Sanctuaries & National park that cover 13.8% area. The Asan Barrage & Jhilmil Tal Reserves & two World Heritage sites, the Nanda Devi Biosphere reserve & Valley of Flowers National Park. The first national park of the Indian Sub-continent – the Corbett National Park shares its boundary with the Rajaji National Park.
