The Uttaraini Festival is the most popular and most important festival and fair in Bageshwar. It’s been celebrated for a whole week in January.Different country sellers come to this fair to sell Furs, sheep, books, shoes, borax, yak tails and goats are the most important items on display.

Harela, which is embraced in July and August, is a very major festival in Kumaon. This is a festivity of 10-11 days, when Harela plants are grown inside or outside the house in a plant pot. The Celebration of Harela is an indication of Monsoon ‘s beginning where people are hoping for bountiful harvest and well-being of all.

In the entire Uttarakhand Kumaun region on the eve of Makar Sankranti the festival of Ghughutiya, also called “Ghughutiya Tyar,” is celebrated. It is the sweet delicacy “Ghughute” that Ghughutiya is celebrated with and Ghughute is made with wheat flour, mixed with milk or ghee.
