In the entire Uttarakhand Kumaun region on the eve of Makar Sankranti the festival of Ghughutiya, also called “Ghughutiya Tyar,” is celebrated. It is the sweet delicacy “Ghughute” that Ghughutiya is celebrated with and Ghughute is made with wheat flour, mixed with milk or ghee.
