Snowfall and rain in Uttarakhand have exacerbated the misery of people living in the state’s high-altitude zones. Villagers in 167 villages in the Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts were trapped in their homes after foot paths were stopped due to severe snowfall. Due to a power line fault in Chakrata, 150 communities were without power.

Snowfall and landslides have brought traffic to a halt on 18 main and 40 rural routes throughout the state. For the third day in a row, the Yamunotri and Gangotri motorways were closed. After snowfall in Pauri’s Chaurikhal, the state highway was closed. The Lonvi and BRO teams are working hard to get the roads open. Heavy snowfall in Rudraprayag district’s Kedar Ghati has severely disrupted normal living. The road between Ukhimath and Chopta-Gopeshwar, which was closed owing to snow, has yet to reopen.

Villages such as Kedarnath, Madmaheshwar, Tungnath, Chandrashila, Deoriatal, Sari, Toshi, Triyuginarayan, Gondar, Ransi, Kartik Swami, Ghimtoli, and others have received snow. Normal life has been disrupted in this town due to excessive snowfall. People are hiding in high spots in their homes. Kedarnath has a height of 4 feet, whereas Tungnath and Chandrashila have a height of 3 feet.

The weather will remain clear across the state until January 15, according to the Meteorological Department. On Tuesday, mild fog is possible in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts.
