Chaubatia Garden in Ranikhet can captivate visitors to the point where they could spend years lying on the turfs and admiring the view. Lord Mayo, the British Viceroy, was so taken with its beauty that he decided to establish a British cantonment in Ranikhet in 1868.

It is an urban botanical garden that connects people to the world of cultivating delights and plants in order to inspire and aspire. In the park, 200 different types of flowers and fruits are grown. The garden, known for its apple orchards, captivates everyone with its stark beauty.

Many trees grow fruits such as apricots, apples, plums, and peaches in their vast landscape. A special attraction is the Government Fruit Research Centre’s fruit garden.

Take a walk in the nearby picturesque 600-acre forest, which has trails dotted with silver oak, rhododendron, cypress, cedar, and pine trees, making it a haven for explorers. In addition, the park is the best example of step farming in the Himalayan region.

The park, which is located at an elevation of 1850 metres, offers views of neighbouring Himalayan ranges such as Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Nilkanth. The cafe inside the garden offers visitors a relaxed seating arrangement with a panoramic view of the garden against the Himalayas. Remember to collect honey, fruits, and juices from the Chaubatia Garden in Ranikhet.

The literal meaning of ‘Chaubatia’ is a common meeting point of four paths; thus, the garden is located at the crossroads of four major cities: Bhargaon (51.8 km), Ranikhet (58.9 km), Dehrti, and Pilkoli (52.7 km). One can quickly get here by car or personal taxi.
