Abbott Mount in Champawat
Abbott Mount is a charming old town in the Champawat district of Uttarakhand’s Kali Kumaon region. Through a magnificent church and 13 isolated cottages across the hill, one can experience the charm of a bygone British colonial era.
Abbott Mount, founded in the early twentieth century by a British businessman named John Harold Abbott, has remained largely unchanged. It is perched at an elevation of 7000 feet above sea level and offers breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayas as well as tranquil surroundings that bring peace as birds chirp through the wispy breeze.
The weather is pleasant all year, making it ideal for activities such as trekking, angling, bird watching, and photography. Abbott Mount, rich in flora and fauna and surrounded by thick forests of pine and deodar, is a must-see escape from the city’s screeching noises.
